Fired up the M38 tonight. It ran really good. I think the accelerator pump needs to be rebuilt the carburetor. It has a low RPM stutter. I'm going to rebuild the carburetor this weekend. I purchased the master rebuild kit. I also noticed the coil gets hot when the 12 V supply stays on for a while but I'll look into a resistor for it. Did a bolt check on everything after running very small leaks here and there that which got fixed. I used Hagerty insurance and it's going to get registered at DMV this Friday.

August 2014

Ordered the wiring kit from Joe @ vintage wiring of Maine. What a Top quality kit. I added a 1 wire GM alt. and turn signals which joe incorperates it all in to the existing harness. I have a 12 V starter so I had to make an MB style push button contact work I nstead of the 24 V style. I used 1155,1156 style bulbs in the black out lights. I also had to make my own oil pressure adapter to work as a mechanical guage. I added the horn button where the old fuel primer goes. I found a perfect push button switch that fits the look! Today I got a lot done. Got the intake crossover fab'd up to look like a M38 crossover. I added the fording valve to the MB crossover. It was eaiser to go this route since I have a civilian carburetor. Got the new radiator installed and the hood bolted down. I also got all the fluids in the jeep.  It's getting there!!!!

May 6, 2012 Been a while but back at the Jeep

Tower Park 2012 was another good event. It lit a fire under my ass to get back at the Jeep. I picked up a oil bath filter and bumper guards. I also ordered all the bearings for rebuilding the Dana 25. I also picked up a set of front and rear blackout lights and trico vacuum wipers. All the parts were stripped, bead blasted and painted. I polished the fire extinguisher and bead blasted and reprinted the mount. One trico vacuum motor works great while the other needs to be rebuilt. I contacted a local guy in Sonoma to fix the trico. I also contacted wiring of Maine to get some new wiring for the internals of the headlights and blackout lights. One black out rear light had a leak and the bulb panel was pretty rusted. I blasted and repaired it. The air cleaner assembly is from a M38a1 and I am unsure if it will work. The Dana 25 will get rebuilt this Friday. Pictures and story to follow....

I have been updating Facebook more than the Blog of the Jeep. I will play catchup in this post.

I found the radiator rod,Engine Lift Plate and Radiator for the M38. I completely stripped the headlight buckets and did a full rebuild on them. With new bulbs,Grommets and seals. Rebuilt the fuel tank sender and pickup. Got all new gaskets from Rapco. Got the Tires mounted on the wheels. The wheels got blasted and coated with POR15 before the OD green. The inside of the wheels got a extra weld to held support the rivets. We did a pre-fit of the body before paint. The hood wanted to sit offset to the grill by about 3/8". we had to shim the back of the drivers side hinge to kick the hood straight. This could be because the cowl was fully replaced and isn't straight with the body. Our Painter at work and I shot the Finally Coat yesterday. It came out really nice. The Paint was mixed 2:1 (Paint : reducer). I used DuPont Synthetic enamel reducer. We used a Gallon of paint to do the fenders,grill,hood,seat,body,windsheild and trans cover pans. It was a bit close and would recommend having more than a gallon to spray tub. More pictures tomorrow with tub sitting on frame.
